When I was in seventh grade a young woman approached me at the Kentucky Horse Park and told me about this amazing equine program that Georgetown College offered students. Not knowing anything about college or what Georgetown had to offer, I said from that moment on I wanted to go to college here.

Not only did the Equine Scholars Program bring me to Georgetown, it also helped me to stretch out and exceed all of my expectation that I had for my college experience. I have had a number of opportunities that have enabled me to gain experience in the professional world and develop my own skills and abilities. I received an internship with Cornett Integrated Marketing Systems in Lexington Kentucky and worked with an account manager on different advertisements for Keeneland and the Jockey Club. Through this internship I gained a network that allowed me to become a Keeneland Ambassador. I was able to meet professionals in the equine industry and observe them in their work place. This allowed me to see several of the different career opportunities that are available within the industry. I would have never gained the connections needed to have these opportunities if I wasn’t a part of the Equine Scholars Program.
